His family survives, but they are my hostages as he fled to Claw Isle. He burned the ornate, new battleship to a pile of charred, floating debris, incinerating the remnants of the Waters retinue along with it. It started to sink from their weight before Anogaron got his first taste of battle. The Lady Joanna was docked nearby, and several hundred of the pirates jumped on board. My knights and the Norvosi sellswords had no problem cutting down the fleeing pirates. They saw the dragon and broke before I could even say "dracarys".
Before we could siege the castle, we had to deal with Waters' standing army of 3200. Anogaron grew rapidly during this time, and by the time the mercenaries arrived, he was large enough to ride. The mercenaries were due to arrive in a week's time. While the pirate army was nearly double the size of mine and they were reduced to only 200 survivors, the pirate garrison on Torturer's Deep was too large for my men to besiege, even with my dragon, without enough survivors to escape the inferno and beat my dragon to death. Of my 700 personal levies, nearly half were killed in a skirmish on Grey Gallows before they could reach the main island. Having a dragon egg and asking for no dowry helped a bit, too.
Her father Oberyn was killed by one of Tywin Lannister's other bannermen, so she and her family were apprehensive at the idea first but I explained that I held no more loyalty to the Lannisters after one of the men who raised me was killed by the other and my plan was to start my own kingdom, free from the influence of the Iron Throne. Prettier and smarter than any of her sisters, I convincer her to marry me on the basis that bastards cannot inherit lands in Westeros and that I plan on forging my own kingdom. Nymeria Sand is a bastard of House Martell, the ruling family of Dorne since the age of heroes. I am in close proximity to the Stormlands and Dorne, the two regions hit hardest by piracy. Since I have a lordship of my own, I will need a wife to continue the Canmore line, lest the isles return to piracy if I die without an heir. I was unjustly denied my inheritance in Summerhall, and I will make the Stepstones their own kingdom, free of piracy and I will show the godless pirates there the truth of the Seven. While piracy remained a threat to the realm, I was not going to return the ships to the likes of Cersei. Unfortunately, Tywin was killed by his own son before I could reach Bloodstone.
Robert's other bannermen burned down my family's castle and Tywin Lannister took me hostage after the war. My father and grandfather, siding with the Targaryens, and my four uncles, who sided with Robert Baratheon in hopes of gaining Summerhall for themselves, all died at the Trident. I am a bastard and my mother was a lowborn daughter of a chicken farmer, and she died giving birth to me. He was the only Baratheon bannerman to side with the Targaryens. He served Steffon, and later his son Robert until the latter revolted against the crown. Steffon Baratheon requested that my grandfather serve him as a bannerman, and Jaherys agreed. While it was never fully restored, my grandfather did build a smaller castle on its grounds where my father and uncles were raised, watching over the few remaining smallfolk with fairness and justice. After the Disaster of Summerhall in 8259, King Jahaerys granted his steward the ruins in the hopes of rebuilding it to its former glory. I was only 7 years old when we were forced out of our home of Summerhall.
